Intelligent Mud Solutions was pleased to welcome Karianne Oldernes Tung, Norway’s Minister responsible for shaping national policy on digitalisation and data-driven innovation. Along with the Minister came Sissel Beate Fuglestad, political representative for the Labour Party in Stavanger, and Audun Otterstad, Political Adviser to the Ministry of Digitalisation, as part of the delegation to our facilities on 10 April.
Representing IMS during the visit were Eivind Midlang (Chairman), Monica Johannessen (HR), Fawzi Chamssine (Operations & Delivery Lead), Bharti Bhart (R&D Engineer), and Reagan James (Fluid Specialist).

The agenda included:
A walkthrough of our offices and introduction to the IMS team
A visit to our technology centre and ongoing R&D projects
A presentation of our digital solutions and AI-driven modules
As part of the agenda, IMS presented its core technology and how it is applied in real operations.
The session included a walkthrough of RheoSense as an autonomous, inline measurement system, showing how continuous real-time data is captured directly from the drilling flow. The focus was on how high-frequency measurements of density and rheological behaviour provide a different level of insight compared to traditional manual sampling, particularly in showing trends and early deviations.
This was followed by a demonstration of the RheoSuite platform, where the measured data is processed and visualised through applications such as RheoView and RheoAdvise. IMS showcased how data is structured, time-aligned, and analysed in the cloud environment, enabling real-time monitoring, trend development, and predictive notifications.
The overall message delivered was how the combination of RheoSense and RheoSuite enables a transition from periodic, manual measurements to continuous, data-driven decision support. Improving operational awareness, reducing uncertainty, and supporting safer and more efficient drilling operations.

We also shared how IMS is deployed globally, with technology deployed from Australia and the Middle East to Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
An important part of the discussion focused on the role of Innovation Norway and its mandate in supporting technology development and international growth. While these frameworks are crucial, we highlighted the ongoing shift towards primarily supporting direct green technologies.
At IMS, we believe that diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural collaboration are key drivers for innovation. Combined with real-time data and digitalisation, this is how we contribute to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable operations in the energy sector.
Thank you for an engaging visit and valuable discussions on the role of technology in shaping the future of our industry.
