Last week, the rig crew encountered a procedural challenge while preparing to circulate and monitor mud properties on the return side. Due to restricted access to the shaker room, the team discussed how to continue monitoring mud weight during spacer returns.

Operations Excellence Engineer Fawzi Chamssine and Automation Manager Pierina Fonseca proposed a practical solution, using the IMS RheoSense unit for real-time density monitoring.
The system, commissioned just 12 hours earlier, allowed the mud engineer to track fluid behaviour directly from the HMI in the mud lab, ensuring full operational visibility without entering a restricted area.
The solution was implemented smoothly, and RheoSense provided continuous, accurate measurements that supported safe and efficient circulation.
This case demonstrates how RheoSense enhances drilling operations by providing:
✅ Practical, real-time data under live well conditions
✅ Improved HSE through remote monitoring
✅ Proven reliability from the start on a sixth-generation deepwater, harsh-environment semi-submersible operating in the Norwegian and Barents Seas.
RheoSense continues to show that real-time rheology and density monitoring enable smarter, more efficient offshore drilling.
